Nuskin AP24 Toothpaste.

 

Ingredients

Aqua, Hydrated Silica, Sorbitol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Glycerin,  Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, PEG-12, Sodium Monofluorophosphate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Dimethicone, Poloxamer 338, Poloxamer 407, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Oxide, Flavor, BHT, CI 77891, Limonene.

 

Here are the most common dangerous ingredients in NUSKIN AP24

Aluminum Hydroxide

Aluminum is a naturally occurring mineral. Aluminum hydroxide is an antacid.Aluminum hydroxide is used to treat symptoms of increased stomach acid, such as heartburn, upset stomach, sour stomach, or acid indigestion. Aluminum hydroxide is also used to reduce phosphate levels in people with certain kidney conditions.

CI 77891 – is the chemical name for Titanium Dioxide

Sneaky of Nu skin !! as most people with an allergy or skin irritant will only know it as Titanium Dioxide though it’s usually found in white paint. When added to toothpaste, titanium dioxide has the safe effect on your teeth as it does on walls – it keeps them nice and white (for a few hours, at least!).Which is where some people may see a whitening difference Ingesting titanium dioxide won’t hurt you, but it isn’t recommended  either

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Sulfate

Added as a detergent and cleansing agent, sodium laurel sulfate and its cousin sodium laureth sulfate pose a wide range of potential health risks. On its own, sodium laurel sulfate can damage eyes, irritate skin and lead to labored breathing. Can cause headaches, dizziness

In the cleaning industry, SLS is used in products such as garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers and car wash soaps SLS is used for clinical testing as a primary skin irritant. Laboratories use it to irritate skin on test animals and humans so that they may then test healing agents to see how effective they are on the irritated skin.

Also found in most shampoos including “no tears” baby shampoos, SLS can keep children’s eyes from developing properly, can cause cataracts in adults, can retard healing, and can impair hair growth.

 Sodium saccharin

is the solid form of the artificial sweetener saccharin.Saccharin is non-nutritive and is used to add sweetness to beverages and foods !!!

Now whilst you can find all of the above in other tooth pastes they are not claiming they will take you 5 shades lighter and are a fraction of the cost.

Personally as I have skin problems I won’t use anything with SLS & if you have any skin complaints at all I would advise you to check all your products.

 

 

After researching all of the above I decided to give some people a call enquiring on the NUSKIN tooth paste

 

1 – Beauty Salon

 

Girl on the phone said she didn’t know anything about the ingredients, but could guarantee it would whiten my teeth, I asked her shouldn’t she know what she was selling as I had looked at the ingredients and some were harmful, she said she would get the salon manager to call me back! Still waiting

 

2 – Beauty Salon 2

 

This salon claimed they were skin experts, spoke to the manager, who told me that they had has 100% positive feedback, I told her I had Eczema and other skin complaints, she assured me that the tooth paste would be safe, when I asked about the SLS – Sodium Laurel Sulphate being a well know skin irritant and is on the top 5 toxic ingredients and a skin expert she should know this, she then told me maybe the product wasn’t for me and hung up

 

3- Facebook

I PM ‘d a girl on Facebook asking how much the tooth paste was and the benefits, she told me that the cheapest way for me to get the product was to sign up to NUSKIN & then my friends could benefit to, I went back saying I just wanted to know what was in it, she sent me a full list of ingredients, no explanation, and again I could save 25% by joining her team. I didn’t reply for a day or two, but she messaged me both days asking if I wanted to be signed up and save me money and I could work from home and earn money Is this a pyramid scheme? – No its Multi-Level Marketing.

I asked her what training she had had from NUSKIN regarding product knowledge and what they were actually selling. She told me that they got full support, when I challenged her on the ingredients and sent the the dangers of SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulpahate) she blocked me!

  1. Those same ingredients are in all whitening toothpaste. Just look at those ingredients. The non harmful ingredients in this product is what makes it so much better than commercial…just fyi

      • I don’t know the ingredients really, but maybe the percentage of the components are very low versus the others, And maybe are so low that is really secure forma everybody. I think that your opinion is just as mediocre as those beauty salons selling these toothpastes

    • But, the toxic ingredients are in there. Why would it be better? I represent a company that is toxic free. When, I see my competitors with toxic ingredients; I get upset. SLS causes kidney damage, disrupts DNA causing reproductive damage. It’s NOT OK.

      • I know some NuSkin sales reps. They are “brainwashed”. I have discussed with them many times. They know little about the actual ingredients. They do know what NuSkin tells them inside and out. They are like a “cult” in my opinion. Very pricy products that they make huge claims about health benefits and anti-aging. Scary that the top guys are so rich and have an army of sales reps working so hard.

        The degree of concentration makes a difference. Acetic acid is dangerous when highly concentrated but delicious within a nice balsamic vinegar. Various colas are highly effective at removing corrosion, yet even heavy consumers aren’t poisoned by it.

        I find that various folks are more than happy to promote fear by way of incomplete information – especially when there’s money in it for them.

    • There are healthier choices out there! I am of the third generation to live in a world of manmade chemicals, preservatives, and pesticides that have been infused into every product on the supermarket shelves, even the fresh produce unless you purchase organic! My generation (I’m a baby boomer) has more Alzheimer’s, Cancer, and Autoimmune diseases than the two generations before us combined. The next two generations after mine suffer from ADHD, Autism, and a number of other diseases that my parents and grandparents never knew existed. The very chemicals that are in our deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, and laundry soaps are making us sick. The pesticides that are sprayed on our food… We don’t know it’s happening, we can’t feel it when we eat it or put in on our bodies, but it is making us sick, damaging our bodies at a cellular level. We don’t even relate it to our food when we get cancer or hypothyroidism or multiple sclerosis; become gluten intolerant or allergic to a food. Scientists don’t know the long term effects of these additives in our foods and chemicals in our personal hygiene products. So whether there are less chemicals in one toothpaste or another or that they also include ingredients that are non-harmful makes it better? AS consumers, WE all need to wake up and pay better attention, don’t you think?

      • I’m using the whitening toothpaste now, and I have sensitive teeth, but unlike the common toothpastes at local supermarkets AP24 toothpaste takes my sensitivity and pain away as long as I brush regularly, most other toothpastes seem to add to my problem, and it’s safe for kids to use. I was a NuSkin employee when their regular toothpaste first became available and they gave us their toothpaste to try. I had a painful root canal at the time and had to wait a month to see a dentist. I used that toothpaste and I had no more dental pain for that whole month waiting to see the dentist

    • thanks dr joe! whoever you are….that’s still not the point though is it? it’s not as natural as it claims. it has got harmful ingredients. be honest. admit it.

      • Everything you eat or drink has harmful ingredients! You can’t buy anything at a grocery store that doesn’t have some sort of harmful ingredient…now quit being a dick…if you don’t like using the product, then don’t use it. Simple as that

      • FYI, not that you care but, Dr. Joe Chang helped develop one of the first immunosuppressant drugs for organ transplants. He’s a very well-respected researcher and product developer and if you doubt his credibility about the product, why not put those researching skills to use. He’s far more qualified to discuss harmful ingredients than I believe you are (unless I’m missing something?).

        The research that shows these ingredients to be harmful is based on direct INGESTION and INHALATION. Is there any research on limited contact? If so, please provide something substantial, as I am open to information I’m not aware of. I take safety of what I use seriously. Unfortunately, the “natural” toothpastes I’ve tried don’t reduce plaque build up on my permanent retainers as well as this. Which is why I love this product, whitening aside.

        Also, where do you get the idea its claimed to be natural? It’s not. The company nor educated distributors are claiming that. But it is safer for the enamel than bleach and peroxide. Talking to an actual dentist whose fully specialized would have made this article more credible. And there’s tons that recommend this toothpaste! Your argument that people selling the product should know every ingredient is silly. Pharmaceutical reps don’t know everything about the drugs they sell. Mechanics aren’t experts about the ingredients in the oil they use for my oil change. My hairdresser can’t go in detail about which ingredient in my shampoo does what…but they still sell it to me. Last I checked its the CONSUMERS responsibility to do their own research and discuss their concerns with specialists in that area.

        I’ve read quite a few of your posts and to be honest, its all negative. There’s no neutrality and when it comes to controversial topics, I steer away from very one-sided opinions because very few complex issues are all good or all bad. The sad part for you, is although you seem to have a passion and ability to express your ideas clearly, you’re probably not convincing anyone of anything different than what they already agree with you on.

  4. How about you do a comparison on all toothpaste’s and not nitpick on just one as there are other toothpaste’s out there much much more “dangerous” as you are trying to discredit this company. I am sure the other toothpaste companies and all the stores selling them would love to see your so called “ingredient expert” discredit them. Have you contacted all the stores selling toothpaste to see if their employees are and “expert” like you? Also, let me know what major stores you contacted inquiring about the hundreds of stocked toothpaste they have! Since your source has supposed health issues, I am sure she isn’t able to use “any” toothpaste because of the so called dangerous ingredients. I have been around different MLM’s so I do my research as well for the reason I came to your page. You or your source appear to be the typical disgruntled MLM failure who will try to discredit a company. Oh, one thing, can you or your source show us credentials on being an “ingredient Expert”? I would love to see the certification(s)! Please enlighten us!

    • The author is simply stating what she thinks and how she puts it together. Muslim makes a lot of money on convincing their sales reps to believe in their products. I think all you sales reps should question them and do the research before defending the product. I wouldn’t let my teenage kids use this product.

      • No, she’s doing more than that. She’s expecting salon employees to be educated about all of the alleged harmful ingredients in every product they sell. Two people have logically pointed out that she’s balking when salon employees don’t know what they shouldn’t reasonably be expected to know…and making claims about this company’s claims when they aren’t even making those claims. The last two commenters are pretty spot on in their assessment of her post.

  6. I’m sure if you quizzed therapists using Dermalogica or any other branded products they would not be able to answer all questions on ingredients and their potential harm if any. This product is approved and legal to sell and has many great reviews. It is also about the quantities of said ingredients and the fact that toothpaste is not designed to not be ingested or applied directly to the skin which would illuminate many of these issues that have been raised. NuSkin has been in business for over 30 years in over 50 countries. These are great products designed to be sold by anyone, same as products being sold in many high street stores. Many are sold by qualified therapists as they see great results and like to give their clients products that work. Nuskin has 75 full time scientists working on their products they create a great income stream for many individuals. Scare mongering with unsubstantiated claims is not helping anyone. AP24’s RDA is between 70-80 which is considered low and is lower than a substantial amount of other branded toothpastes on the market and therefore YES it is safer……

  7. most of those ingredients that you have listed are harmful if you digest like all of the toothpaste!! if you had done your research you would see that other toothpaste such as Colgate or crest contain ingredients that can harm you as well if you were to digest a lot. you are literally just brushing your teeth and spitting it out I’m sure someone is not going to spend all day on the phone with a bunch of critics.

      • Then why make the claims it’s total safe ? There’s a lot of people who are allergic to SLS but they mask it with it chemical # . Once I stopped using it my teeth are so scratched I have to brush them now up to 4 times a day . I use pronamel and was told it was comparable. NOT !! Pronamels RDA is 35 Ap fraud is 103 ! HUGE difference! NUSkins company as a whole is a joke.

  8. I independently came up with the same suspicions as the author. I don’t think she is saying this tooth paste is the worst. But, since it is so expensive, it does provoke me more. There are all natural pastes with fluoride that contain healthier ingredients, if one wants that. I think the white teeth, tight body, shinny hair, etc is something the media has put into our heads and some things have too high of a price to pay to obtain.

  9. I am a registered dental hygienist. This product does not. I repeat DOES not whiten teeth more than their natural color. It is dangerously abrasive in hope of scrubbing off surface stain. Professional whiteners whiten from the inside out and must contain carbamide peroxide in prescription strength to do so. The only way to get this is through a licensed dentist. You can have irreversible damage to the enamel with this product and the surface stain will come back.

    • Dawn! Just a little confused here. I just went to my dentist and they said the only time you can whiten inside the tooth is when you get a root canal. Professional whitening at the dentist is extrinsic and not intrinsic. So I don’t get why you are saying that professional whiteners whiten from the inside out? Are you really a dental hygienist? If you were, then you would know the only time this happens is when you get a root canal. Also, you are making the claim that this stuff has irreversible damage to the enamel and surface stains will come back. This product has the same ingredients as other toothpaste. Does this mean we should stop using the other toothpaste like crest, colgate, etc…? Surface stains come back no matter what you do, even if you get the professional bleaching at the dentist. This is why people get it done every year. Nothing lasts permanently. I would be very interested to hear your response and see your credentials as a registered dental hygienist. I haven’t used this product yet and I am going to do more research before I do, but your comments made no sense to me. Please expound on your comments above and provide proof for your claims or people like me WILL NOT trust you! Thanks!!

      • David, please get the facts before you criticize a Registered Denal Hygiene professional. Actually, the outer layer of your teeth, your tooth enamel, determines the brightness of your smile. When light shines on your teeth, it is scattered and reflected in the enamel, creating the color of your teeth. If you have plaque, food stains, etc. (extrinsic stains) on your enamel, your enamel will reflect less light and teeth will look darker. If your dentin (the layer under your enamel) is darker, it may show through the enamel and create a darker appearance. This is know as intrinsic staining, and one reason why some dentists bleach a root canal tooth…(blood has been trapped in the dentinal tumbles as the tooth died, thus creating darker dentin). This, however, is NOT the only reason to whiten teeth with intrinsic stains (medications, genetic factors, normal aging, etc.). Dental bleaching treatments, (prepared and implemented many times in the dental office), often called tooth whitening, can remove color from both the enamel and the underlying dentin. It may also have the effect of making the enamel overly translucent if the bleaching is overdone to an extreme. I suggest that you go back to your dentist and ask him to explain, in detail, tooth formation and whitening procedures before you yourself make an uninformed statement.

    I have researched this on many websites and all the professionals that I researched have said the same thing that my dentist said to me. Your dentin isn’t typically whitened and if the bleach were to ever reach it you will be in a world of pain because dentin is very sensitive to temperature and acids. I did discuss this with my Dentist in great depth. I understand tooth structure too. If you really read my comment above you would see that I said my dentist explained that the teeth whitening procedure is extrinsic and not intrinsic. This means that the dentin, which is darker, will not get whitened. I am not pretending to be an expert here, I am going off of what my dentist and other professionals have said. Perhaps I should get a second opinion but I really think I will be told the same thing, that your dentin will not be bleached and that you don’t want your dentin to be bleached. I throw the same comment back at you Bernie, “please get the facts before you criticize.” People who are reading this, do your own research and look at credible sources. Don’t just believe what people say in these comments!

  11. One more thing! I just had my teeth professionally whitened at the dentist and the outer layer is whiter but the dentin is not. When you get really close to my teeth you can see that this is the case. Further away my teeth appear whiter. I have been using the nuskin ap24 toothpaste and so far it looks like the outer layer is getting even whiter. It isn’t doing anything for the dentin though. The only difference between using this toothpaste and doing the professional whitening is that there is NO pain with the toothpaste. The professional whitening hurt really bad. I felt like I had electrical shocks every few seconds and my whole body would jerk because of it. The toothpaste is a cheaper option and has not hurt me yet. People on this forum have said that it contains horrible ingredients but don’t understand that the toothpaste you buy at the store has horrible ingredients too. Are you just going to stop brushing your teeth? Haha of course not. I am not planning on using this toothpaste long term, but I will use it when the stains come back and then stop once I get the desired shade I am seeking. I am looking into other toothpaste options that have natural ingredients that won’t be harmful and if I find it I will definitely share my discovery. I have heard about this xylitol toothpaste that seems like it might be a good alternative to normal toothpaste. I will research it more and encourage others to as well.

Why don’t you just call to Nu Skin and ask for this AP24 ingredients instead of calling those beauty salon and fb seller?Is not a good attitude to show your product knowledge like that eventhough you are a professional in those ingredients. People are just doing their business and yes, even some of the eczema or psoriasis friends are using AP24 but I don’t heard on any complaint.
    U may do your research and call to Nu Skin, they have experts to answer your questions but please respect other sellers.

  13. You guys don’t know what you are talking about. Very similar ingredients that Colgate has. There are just 8 patents that no on else has. More times than not, they don’t educate themselves enough to write a blog like this and they are jealous of the thousands of dollars we are making every month. My suggestion, go get a life. Clearly you have nothing better to do 🙄 I don’t sell NuSkin but have friends that do and they tell me all the time how generous of a company they are. I may end up joining her one day because I’m smart enough not to believe stupid blogs like these

  14. I bought a tube of this and had been using it for almost a month. I had started having mouth/ lip pain and then it spread to my tongue. I actually felt fatigued and just overall not good. I absolutely was convinced I had mouth cancer and that my bad habit of smoking on and off for years had caught up with me. A couple of nights ago after oil pulling with frankincense and feeling better, it hit me, I have used either natural brands like TOMS of Maine or NOW for years. I’ve even used baking soda. I have not used fluoride or SLS ingredients in a very long time and Ap24 has a higher fluoride content I believe. The rep I got it from I knew and she kept her page flooded with ingredient comparisons. Any, I have sensitive skin and allergic reactions to things often but this was scary. I stopped using it and spent the next day using essential oils and oil pulling and brushing with my old natural brand tooth paste. My lips have stopped hurting and the redness gone down. My tongue is going back to its original color and I only have a small pain as if I may have but it. I may have during all the stress. It’s very difficult to find anything negative about this toothpaste , maybe it has not been out long enough, but I went in with an open mind and honestly thought it was safe. Maybe I have a sensitive disposition or maybe it is just harsher than it claims.

  16. Look up the ingredients on http://www.ewg.org…this product is full of toxins and chemicals. If you care about that, there are other brands like Thieves that is cheaper, safe and works. Remember you don’t have to swallow the product for it to absorb into and harm your body. If it doesn’t concern you, then use what you want. So simple.

  17. This is a joke ! All it’s doing is scratching the surface of your teeth ! Waste of $ yeah your teeth look white but wait until you stop using it . It has scratched my teeth so bad and thinned my enamel . It’s hilarious the way no one tells you that it’s scratching the enamel NOT Whitening
